This gift shop contains products created by refugees in our Empowerment Programs in Lebanon. Through this small cash-for-work program they have a chance to earn an additional income and further support their families. By buying these products you can help us sustain our projects.
These tote bags are sewn as part of the Empowerment Programme for Syrian refugee women in our centres in Lebanon. The women participating in this programme sew together the pieces of fabric to construct the bags. Hereafter, women and youth also participating in the programme decorate the bags in the following three different ways:
1) Embroidery: the women hand embroider the bags
2) Paint: the youth paint the bags during their arts classes
3) Print: paintings made by the youth during art class are scanned and printed on to the bags
Through this cash-for-work programme, the women are able to have a small source of income to support themselves and their families. Proceeds from purchasing a bag help support this initiative.
