Eh bien, c&#039;est ainsi que la plupart de mes co-volontaires ont appris \u00e0 me conna\u00eetre. C&#039;\u00e9tait pendant notre journ\u00e9e d&#039;orientation \/ formation et nous partagions nos raisons pour lesquelles nous avions choisi de faire du b\u00e9n\u00e9volat pour SB Overseas, et j&#039;ai r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 passer en dernier. J&#039;ai cependant \u00e9t\u00e9 submerg\u00e9 par la quantit\u00e9 d&#039;amour envers mon peuple, envers les Syriens, et j&#039;ai \u00e9touff\u00e9. Je ne pouvais tout simplement pas parler. Apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 habitu\u00e9e \u00e0 \u00eatre trait\u00e9e comme une citoyenne de seconde classe au cours des sept derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, je ne m&#039;attendais pas \u00e0 autant de positivit\u00e9 authentique de la part d&#039;un groupe d&#039;absolus inconnus du monde entier. C&#039;est ainsi que mon voyage de b\u00e9n\u00e9volat avec SB \u00e0 Beyrouth a commenc\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En entrant \u00e0 SB, je ne savais pas trop \u00e0 quoi m&#039;attendre en tant qu&#039;orateur arabe ou en tant que Syrien. Je peux confortablement dire que je ne me suis jamais senti aussi utile dans ma vie que maintenant. \u00catre capable de parler arabe m&#039;a donn\u00e9 la possibilit\u00e9 de communiquer avec de nombreux membres du personnel ici. Je ne peux pas imaginer ne pas \u00eatre pris en sandwich par eux pendant ma pause. Et surtout, cela me permet de me connecter aux \u00e9tudiants d&#039;une mani\u00e8re diff\u00e9rente. J&#039;avais peur de parler arabe en classe. Et s&#039;ils n&#039;apprennent pas ? Et si l&#039;arabe devenait une b\u00e9quille. Oui, mes \u00e9l\u00e8ves apprendraient probablement l&#039;anglais plus rapidement avec un non-arabophone, mais j&#039;aime le fait de pouvoir les connecter d&#039;une mani\u00e8re que les autres ne peuvent pas. J&#039;aime leur inculquer l&#039;id\u00e9e qu&#039;en tant que Syrien, on peut apprendre \u00e0 parler anglais, ce n&#039;est pas impossible. J&#039;aime leur montrer les possibilit\u00e9s qu&#039;ils ont.
