This summer, the fifteen-year old boy had the opportunity to visit our centres in Lebanon. In light of Youth Day, we want to shine the light on the youth who are a part of our organisation.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"95ieh-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"95ieh-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"95ieh-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"2lgg2-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"2lgg2-0-0\"><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"2lgg2-0-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">I arrived in Beirut on the 28th June and at the time, I could not imagine how this trip was going to make me grow and broaden my horizons<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"2lgg2-1-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"ac3jj-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"ac3jj-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ac3jj-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"6q66j-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"6q66j-0-0\"><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"6q66j-0-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">Three months <\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"complexword\"><span data-offset-key=\"6q66j-1-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">previously<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"6q66j-2-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">, we had sent a container from Brussels to Beirut and a part of it was for the refugee camp in Saida<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"6q66j-3-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">. With the team on the ground, I went to this camp and we started to unload the container. We opened the packages and sorted the clothes. Each item <\/span><\/span><span class=\"passivevoice\"><span data-offset-key=\"6q66j-4-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">was placed<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"6q66j-5-0\"><span data-text=\"true\"> in a black bag for a refugee family, because they live in harsh conditions there. It took us two days to sort the clothes. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"6q66j-6-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">During this time, I got to know the teachers and the volunteers, during football games that we did with the teachers and the children of the camp<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"6q66j-7-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">. During these games, I could create a relationship with the children.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"6q66j-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"6q66j-0-0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sboverseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/36579029_2122726874610500_4250358597432639488_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3915\" src=\"https:\/\/sboverseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/36579029_2122726874610500_4250358597432639488_n-180x300.jpg\" alt=\"36579029_2122726874610500_4250358597432639488_n\" width=\"180\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"25f06-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"25f06-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"25f06-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"f20tm-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"f20tm-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"f20tm-0-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">The day after, I started to assist a teacher and a volunteer. From 8:00AM to 10:40AM, the teacher and I taught them the Arabic alphabet. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"f20tm-1-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">After a short break, from 11:00AM to 1:40PM, the teacher and I, his assistant, taught maths to primary school age children<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"f20tm-2-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">. The volunteer was in charge of the English class. Finally, we ended the program with the Arabic lesson. Then, a break was necessary to relax, eat, discuss and play, and prepare the last lesson that was from 2:20PM till 4:30PM. The lesson started with some music and then it was time for the Arabic and English classes. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"veryhardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"f20tm-3-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">At the end of the day, I went outside and played with the children, but only for 15 minutes as I had to take the 4:50PM bus with a teacher to go back to Beirut with my mother<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"f20tm-4-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">. With her, we went back to where we were staying. In total, I spent two weeks in Saida. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"f20tm-5-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">The schedule in Beirut was kind of the same, even if the days were shorter (I had classes from 11:00AM till 1:40PM and I did an Arabic class with a teacher)<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"f20tm-6-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"5m9ud-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"5m9ud-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"5m9ud-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"cnts0-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"cnts0-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"cnts0-0-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">The two centres are different; the learning tools <\/span><\/span><span class=\"passivevoice\"><span data-offset-key=\"cnts0-1-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">are adapted<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"cnts0-2-0\"><span data-text=\"true\"> to the children. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"cnts0-3-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">Between life skills lessons, English, maths and Arabic classes, the days <\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"passivevoice\"><span data-offset-key=\"cnts0-4-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">are filled<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"cnts0-5-0\"><span data-text=\"true\"> with many things to do<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"cnts0-6-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"38bbj-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"38bbj-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"38bbj-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"7sq66\" data-offset-key=\"7sb79-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"7sb79-0-0\"><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"7sb79-0-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">I went back to Brussels with new knowledge and skills that learned during my one-month stay in Lebanon<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"7sb79-1-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">. I want to be more involved in the volunteering projects during the SB Espoir activities. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"veryhardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"7sb79-2-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">With the volunteering, I can not only share my knowledge with refugees, but they give me so much in return that it is a mutual learning experience based on multicultural exchanges<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"7sb79-3-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">. This is priceless when we see the smile on the face of a child that is happy to learn new things.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>",
