Masters Scholarship for Refugees in the UK

The University of St Andrews is giving a scholarship to refugees in the UK for 2020.

About the St Andrews Sanctuary Scholarship

“St Andrews is committed to attracting the very best students, and to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone in our community. The University is pleased to launch a new Sanctuary Scholarship, specifically designed to support undergraduate and postgraduate applicants who are seeking sanctuary in the UK.

The Sanctuary Scholarship is open to any applicant that has an official Home Office status as one of the following:

  • Asylum Seeker
  • Refugee
  • Humanitarian protection
  • Limited leave to remain
  • Discretionary leave to remain”

Asylum seekers will be assessed as Home (Scotland/EU) fee status.

Duration of award

Annually for the duration of the student’s course

Value of award (per year)

Postgraduate Taught courses up to £22,000

Postgraduate Research up to £15,000

Tuition or maintenance award?

Flexible funding which can be allocated towards Tuition or Maintenance depending on Government/other funding provided

Number of awards available

Postgraduate Taught – 4

Postgraduate Research – 2

You can apply to the scholarship within your application to study at the University of St Andrews. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is 31 May 2020.

JISR 2020 - Master degrees scholarships

Al Ghurair Foundation for Eduation AGFE is offering a new scholarship for the Summer/Fall 2020.

About the OLSP Scholarship

Arizona State University (ASU) and the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education (AGFE) are collaborating to offer scholarships to high-achieving disadvantaged Arab youth to obtain their master’s degrees online at ASU. The Open Learning Scholars Program is a full-ride scholarship focused on 33 STEM-related specializations, spanning the fields of engineering, technology, health, education, and tourism, which are considered rare in our region and so are key to building knowledge among youth in the region.

Deadline for applications is 27th October 2019 at 12h00 noon Beirut time.

Open Learning Scholars Program - Summer/Fall 2020

Japanese Initiative for the future of Syrian Refugees (JISR) is making its 4th call to support Syrian refugees who have the potential to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria in the future. This program offers opportunities for young Syrian refugees to study in graduate courses for their Master’s courses at Japanese universities.

  • Japanese Initiative for the future of Syrian Refugees (JISR)
  • Conducted in English
  • Master’s Degree Program
  • Fields of Study at Japanese Universities: Engineering, Agriculture, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Business Administration, Social Science (Peacebuilding, Political Science, Public Administration, etc.), and Japanese Language and Culture are specified as key fields of study.

Online Course - Planning and Tracking Advocacy Campaigns
New Tactics in Human Rights is hosting a 5-module online course on planning on tracking advocacy campaigns:
“The course will provide you with a foundation for conducting human rights-based advocacy using the Strategic Effectiveness Method, and prepare you to integrate technology into your advocacy work using our innovative online Tactical Mapping Tool (TMT). The course is being offered free of charge and 20 applicants will be selected to take the course.”
