Universities around Europe and the world have increasingly created opportunities for refugees to access higher education. Researching the programs available, weighing options, making applications, ensuring qualifications, securing funding and other aspects of being able to attend a higher education institution, however, are difficult to access without guidance. This initiative will aims to bring prospective students in our network closer to those opportunities.

“World University Service of Canada (WUSC) would like to invite qualified refugee youth in Lebanon to apply for the 2021-22 cohort of the Student Refugee Program (SRP).
Eligibility Requirements:
All applicants must be:
● Registered as a refugee in Lebanon with the UNHCR;
● Currently living in Lebanon and have arrived in Lebanon before January 1 st , 2017;
● A secondary school graduate in possession of official and original transcripts of academic documents. Minimum academic grade is 65% or equivalent;
● Between the age of 18-25 as of January 1s t , 2020 (date of birth must be no earlier than January 1 st , 1995 and no later than January 1 st 2002);
● Able to undertake academic studies in English or French;
● Single (unmarried) with no children;
● Self-reliant, mature and suitable for resettlement to Canada as an individual (i.e. not with family
members); and
● Facing barriers to accessing or completing post-secondary education.

Starting in February 2020, YMCB is running a free of charge 6 months training and mentoring programme for young migrant entrepreneurs. A blend of online and ‘classroom’ learning is strengthened by personal coaching based on regular, face-to-face meetings with mentors. In addition, the content is tailored to address specific needs and obstacles faced by prospective entrepreneurs with migrant background. Learn more about the content here.

“‘Together, Moving Forward’ is a small grants programme run by ESU aiming at building positive refugee-host interactions across Europe.
Since 2016, we have supported more than 40 valuable projects, shared views with resourceful activists and creative change-makers. However, we are also still confronted with little or uneven progress made by European governments and education systems, and perhaps an even more polarized public discourse regarding refugees, people in exile or seeking asylum or migrants.
We want to continue our efforts to encourage and promote valuable and viable options for refugees and asylum seekers to access and benefit from education and be part in our communities.
We are inviting and supporting university students and students in exile and to work together and get the system “unstuck”.

Refugee Journalism Project | UK
“Refugee Journalism Project is looking for UK-based professional journalists with a refugee background who want to rebuild their careers. Between March and August, 15 selected participants will have the opportunity to acquire new media skills, publish journalistic content, and build professional networks through collaborations. In September, all participants will be invited to apply for the second phase which offers three six-month paid traineeships.
In order to meet the eligibility criteria, you must have:
• Refugee status (or Humanitarian Protection or Discretionary Leave to Remain as a result of an asylum claim).
• An average IELTS of 5.5 (or able to demonstrate a good command of English)
• Experience or qualifications in journalism, communications or a media-related field.
• You must be able to attend workshops between March and September 2020 (the exact dates will be supplied at a later stage)
• Be based in the UK.

“The American University of Beirut is pleased to announce the opening of this year’s recruitment for the Mastercard Foundation
Scholars Program. This program is in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and aims to prepare young people to be agents of
change in their communities, countries, and regions. The scholarship program is open to all master’s degree programs offered at AUB.
Applicants must be nationals of African countries, nationals of Lebanon, or refugees and displaced living in Lebanon.
The program will offer the scholarship recipients full tuition support, a monthly stipend, medical insurance, housing, books,
and laptop, in addition to travel costs for students from Africa. The program can also cover for English language courses at AUB
for those who do not meet the required English score on TOEFL or IELTS.

Columbia University Scholarship For Displaced Students
“The Columbia University Scholarship for Displaced Students (CUSDS) is an effort to combat this unprecedented humanitarian and economic loss by providing displaced students with the opportunity to pursue higher education at Columbia University, one of the leading educational institutions in the world. As the first-ever Columbia-wide scholarship, and the world’s first scholarship of its kind, this program will commit up to $6 million annually in support, per cohort, for up to 30 students each year. Mentoring and support will be provided by the Scholarship, as well as by schools and student groups at Columbia.
Eligibility
This scholarship program is for foreign nationals with refugee status living anywhere in the world, or who have received US asylum or submitted a US asylum application, or are in the US under Temporary Protected Status.
Submission Instructions
Applicants must apply directly to a degree program listed on the scholarship information homepage. Each school and program maintains their own acceptance requirements and application deadlines. Acceptance to an academic program DOES NOT guarantee funding through the scholarship (students may be accepted to an academic program but not receive funding through the scholarship).

Scholarship For Masters European Studies
“The College of Europe offers a large number of scholarships to university graduates coming from European Neighbourhood Policy countries for post-graduate studies at the College of Europe during the academic year 2020-2021.
These scholarships cover academic expenses, accommodation, meals and travel costs.
The countries concerned are: Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia and Ukraine.
Selection procedure:
1. Candidates are requested to visit the website of the College www.coleurope.eu and check the academic and language requirements.
2. Candidates have to register and apply online.
3. Candidates have to submit the online application form including the requested documents (cf. application instructions).
4. After the deadline (15th of January 2020), all applications will be evaluated by the study departments at the College of Europe and a preselection will be made. Preselected candidates will be invited for an interview with the Professors/assistants of the department(s) they have applied for. Masters Scholarship For Refugees In Brussels
100% Fee waiver for individuals with refugee status or subsidiary protection in Belgium.
At BSIS, we teach a range of subjects in International Studies,
many of which touch on situations which affect refugees and in which refugees
are engaged. Recognising the difficulties which refugees may face in achieving
further education, in academic year 2019/20, BSIS is delighted to announce the
award of a 100% fee waiver scholarship for individuals living in Belgium who
are holding refugee status or subsidiary protection.
Criteria
Applicants should have been granted refugee status in Belgium or have been granted subsidiary protection through what would be the end date of their studies (e.g. August 2020 for September 2019 entry)
Applicants must provide a letter from a Belgian authority confirming refugee status or subsidiary protection in Belgium
Applicants must be resident in Belgium
Applicants must study full-time
Applicants must be accepted into one of the standard (90 ECTS) programmes at BSIS
