As the New Year approaches, I would like to take this chance to share a personal message to all of you:

Last week we had our 50th SB Espoir activity for the year of 2018!  For this special occasion and our last activity of the year with the newly partnered Fedasil Centre in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre (WSP), our volunteers shared some of that December festive spirit with the youth. The volunteers prepared cards with best wishes for the coming days and new year, and a little ornament as a token for good luck. Afterwards, we had fun activities like Santa limbo planned before sharing the goodies and cakes with the youth.

As an Italian (even though not from Verona), nothing says celebrating in December like having some Pandoro cake, which the youth and volunteers got to share the tradition with me. Another important tradition among children in Italy is of course to have the Pandoro Knight, which I could not resist introducing to the youth and volunteers.

This sharing of experiences and childhood traditions are what bring me so much pride working with SB OverSeas and the volunteers. SB Espoir is not only about integration and personal development, but to create an ever-growing family. Sharing traditions, opinions and experiences is the best way to get to know each other, create a sense of belonging and, most importantly, a positive outlook towards the future for these youth. The December festivities, even if you do not celebrate Christmas and New Year, is a time to inspire hope, celebrate friendship, and joy. At SB Espoir, these are the values we follow and will continue to do in the coming year.

I wish all of you a merry Christmas, happy New Year and a joyful life!
